Ok Some Information frist........

Super Smash Brother Melee is the successor to the 1999
Nintendo 64 game Super Smash Bros.The game is centered
on characters from Nintendo's video gaming franchises
such as Mario, Pokémon, and The Legend of Zelda.It is
the GameCube's best-selling game.

Super Smash Bros. Melee features 26 characters Fifteen are
available at frist but the rest must be unlocked by playing the game.
The multiplayer mode, up to four players or computer controlled characters
may fight, either in a free-for-all or in teams

Ok that gives you an idea about the game =P

Now for tips and so on

I personaly love this game it has great multiplayer fun

Now there are 3 types of people that play Multiplayer

Noob (C stick smasher)
Fighter ( Good moves like wave and back dash)
Pro ( untouchable Great combos swift dashes and great recorvery)

Are you a?

Noob - You spam The C stick and A
Fighter - You can wave dash not 2 swift but good you have deadly combos and you can spike from time to time and have a good recovery( am here)
Pro - You can dodge most moves Spike 99% of the time your combos are godly and you have the best possible recovery =D

Multiplayer legends
Ken (main marth player retired Created the deadly marth combo named after him "kencombo")
Mew2king (Alot of char but uses marth most often he is deadly using the ken combo and is 1 of the best fox and falco players)
Pc Chris (knows as 1 of the 10 ten falco and fox players he has been known to do combos that would make noobsd wet themselfs)
Chudat (Possibly the best Ice climbers player has great moves and is just great allround player)
Bombsoldier (Main Falco is a extreme player has been know to do the "bombsoldier" where he will jump and spike you down and he will die most of the time he will win the game by this move)
Aniki (Know as the best link player his bombs spikes and combos are 2 be feared as he is well know to put you away as soon as)

I will be finshing this list later lol

Now to some tips...... if you want to know how to perform these moves simply go on youtube and look for a guide.....

Crouch Cancel - By doing this you can take away the force that you have been hit by and doesnt send you flying away and then you can blow him away

Chain throwing - To grab your enermy at a contant rate that he cannot escape master this and you can build up damage quick to begin combos that need 30%+ damage to do

Dash cancel - you dash towards your enermy and then crouch by doing this you can now do your normal moves and not your dash attack!

Edge Guard - by doing this you are stoping you enermy getting back on stage there are to best ways to do this grabing onto the edge and let them fall to there death or as you grab the edge jump towards the enermy and attack him away then do your recovery move to grab the ledge again

Wave dash - by doing this you can increase the speed of your slow chars if swift you can move at great speeds that people think you cant do with this you can sneak and start a chainthrow

BackDash - this in effect can start your edge guarding as you dnt need to jump or run and turn to the ledge you simply slide backwards and grab the ledge its great and can be used to retreat if you at high percenatage.

Baby spike - because not all players have a spike you can do moves that are not spikes to atually spike them! i know what? take kirby his down and A is some kicks when your enermy is trying to recover use that to push him down and then do it again try and use your jumps until your under the ledge and then use your up and B to grab the ledge

Spike - This is by far the best move in a combo or just a solo a spike is hitting you oppent straight down so he cant recover no matter how much he trys alot of players have spikes Marth Falco Young and old link and so on use these to take out your enermy.

Shine spike - This is a fox only spike and it is his reflector by hitting you enermy with it it cause them to be stuneed for a few seconds doing this on the edge to push them off is a great start then fall and do it again so they fall to there death and then use your recovery to get back when doing this if you do this from above it gives you a little boast up that helps alot

Now to see the awards this game has been given.
In their "Best of 2001" awards, GameSpy chose it as Best Fighting GameCube Game
IGN's reader choice chose it as Game of the Year
Electronic Gaming Monthly chose it as Best Multiplayer and Best GameCube Game
GameFAQs placed it sixth in a poll of the 100 best games ever and was in the final four of the "Best. Game. Ever." contest
GameSpot chose it as the Best GameCube Game and tenth best game of the year

also i will like to say incase people think on who the best SSBM player is look at this

He is also the current world champion, having defeated reputable players from around the globe, including top Japanese players such as Aniki, Captain Jack, Masashi, Bombsoldier, Korius, and Mikael in the summer of 2005 and 2006.[3] He was inducted into the Smash Hall of Fame in 2008
Ken is considered the statistically most dominant player, having the highest major tournament win-to-loss ratio of any player.[5] His impressive three year dominance earned him the nickname "The King of Smash" within the community.
